Bright Girls & Bright Boys
For as little as $190 AUS (Tk. 13 300) per year, working children in Bangladesh have the opportunity to access education and break the cycle of poverty.
How Does This Project Help?
The Bright Girls and Bright Boys Project provides formal education opportunities to working children in Bangladesh. Education is a fundamental human right and yet many children in Bangladesh simply do not get the opportunity to learn how to read and write.
This project offers working children the opportunity to receive an education. Many of the children love learning and want to continue their education however cannot afford it. SUF can only provide free education to grade 8 after which children have to be mainstreamed into formal schools. SUF supports this process however cannot fund individual education. This project pays all educational costs: school fees, uniforms, books and extra coaching facilities allowing children to access and complete high school.
Sponsoring a Child
The aim of the Bright Girls and Boys project is to find sponsors for children who wish to complete their education after grade 8. Children who have attended and completed high school are in a position to get sustainable employment in areas such as government, administration and the like. Through these jobs they will be provided with enough income to not only support themselves but also have the opportunity to move their whole family out of the slum.
Funding is provided by donors on a year to year basis, with no specific ongoing commitment required. The cost of sponsoring a child is Tk. 13 300 ($190 AUS) per year. 100% of this money goes towards the cost of education with no administration fees either in Bangladesh or the country in which you make the payment.
Payment is easy and can be made from anywhere in the world by cheque, bank transfer, credit card or paypal.
What Do You Receive?
As a child's sponsor you will receive information about your child's background and updates on their educational progress. If you wish, you will also be able to directly contact your child or the coordinator of the project in Bangladesh.
